With forty years experience living in DeSoto and over 33 of these years helping home buyers and sellers alike, Ann Motz is uniquely qualified to service the needs of her clients. Ann deals primarily in properties located in Southaven , Olive Branch and Hernando.

DeSoto County is believed to have been pre-historically populated by prehistoric groups of Woodland and Mississippian Indians, due to the archaeological discovery of artifacts. Hernando, the county seat, is named in honor of Spanish explorer Hernando de Soto . Historians believe that DeSoto, during his explorations, met with Mississippian Indians in this region and later discovered the Mississippi River . The National Park Service declared a "DeSoto Corridor" from the Chickasaw Bluff ( Memphis ) to Coahoma County , Mississippi to honor the history associated with this region. This vibrant history comes alive in a local attraction, the DeSoto County Museum , which is located in Hernando. Residents and visitors alike are invited to enjoy and learn from exhibits that include displays on Hernando DeSoto, antebellum homes of the county, DeSoto County's Civil War History, civil rights, and the history of each of the county's municipalities. The museum also maintains a log cabin, circa 1850, on its grounds for museum goers to visit.

The county is also home to a wealth of natural beauty. The mighty Mississippi River, largest in our country, runs through DeSoto County . DeSoto County is also home to Coldwater River and Arkabutla Lake, which provide residents the chance to enjoy 72 holes of championship golf, spectacular sailing, swimming and fishingjust a portion of the leisure activities in the area. Other popular activities include hiking and camping in this green jewel of the Mississippi Delta. Other regional sites of interest include the Dockery House, the Felix Labauve House, the Miller Plantation House and the Robertson-Yates House. Hernando is home to four different and distinct historic districts: the Commerce Street Historic District, Courthouse Square District, North Side Historic District, and the South Side Magnolia Historic District. DeSoto County 's towns each offer a variety in shopping, whether you prefer to go antiquing or enjoy the variety of the newly built mall. DeSoto County 's landscape is decorated with historic homes and picturesque town squares, perfect for leisure drives or afternoon strolls. With a premier youth sports complex, the River Kings ice hockey team, and a calendar full of local events and festivals in our communities, there's almost no reason to venture outside of the county for excitement. But if you do crave the hustle and activity of a larger city, the bright lights of Beale Street and urban Memphis are less than a half-hour from your door, as well as the glitter of Tunica's shows and casinos. DeSoto residents experience the best of not two, but three worlds: whether they're enjoying a cone at local favorite The Dip' Velvet Cream, treating themselves to a night of the blues in Memphis, or feeling lucky at the casino in Tunica, DeSoto residents truly have it all while being away from it all.

Desoto's quality of life is a balanced blend of traditional Southern charm mixed with the bright lights of the big city. DeSoto invites its residents and visitors to sample its hometown pleasures, as well as its world-famous music and attractions. DeSoto County maintains a sense of economic stability that belies its rapid growth. With an unemployment rate three percent lower than the state average and two percent lower than the national average, the career opportunities in DeSoto County are as limitless as its leisure activities. This is due in part to the area's 208 new and expanding industries , such as Soladigm and the expansion of the Olive Branch Industrial Park, which allow our workers the peace of mind that comes with economic security. In DeSoto County , we have increased our population well over 50% and still seen the creation of over 10,000 new jobs. The University of Mississippi at Desoto and Northwest Mississippi Community College ensure that our workforce is educated as well as trained, ready to maintain and expand the area's growth and development.
